Maré Aquamarine takes its name from the Portuguese word maré, meaning “tide.”

With my Dad's side of the family coming from Portugal, I wanted this stone to have a connection to that side of my own heritage. With so much of Portuguese life and history shaped by the Atlantic, the name felt right for an Aquamarine.

Its soft blue takes inspiration from the colours of the coast and the way the water changes as the sun moves through it and shimmers. Two elements I've always been drawn to - The sun and the sea.

Aquamarine itself comes from the Latin aqua marina, meaning “sea water”, and is the traditional birthstone for March.

Like every stone we create, though, you don't need to wear Maré because it's your birthstone. It can represent a place, a memory, someone close to you, or simply be a colour you've always loved.

The meaning you give it is completely your own as it is my own.
